Hydraulic Characteristics and Vortex Characteristics of the Flow around the Piped Vehicle with Different Diameter-to-Length Ratios

Hydraulic pipeline transportation of a piped vehicle is new mode with energy-saving potential and environmental protection. In order to analyze the turbulent characteristics flow around vehicle, large eddy simulation (LES) method was adopted simulate hydraulic vortex at Reynolds number Re = 140,467 diameter-to-length ratios 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7. The results showed that main factor affected gap velocity, backflow area length, turbulence intensity cylinder diameter in ratio vehicle. lengths for vehicles different were all less than 1 D, axial disturbance distances about 7.5 D. addition, variety structures existed rear areas. At beginning development, ring vortices generated front ends body. Subsequently, fell off along body evolved into hairpin vortices. same time, reflux formed after broke away from body, wake behind supports. Finally, some worm dispersed These can further improve theoretical system provide basis industrial application.
